I generally like books that include traditional legends of different cultures. The fact that Kylie Chan was able to intertwine the old legends in her writing is simply amazing. One thing I didn't enjoy were the transitions. They weren't clearly defined, and it practically threw you into a whole new setting and that annoyed me. Often, I found myself rereading one paragraph, trying to figure out where the transition took place. But overall, it's a wonderful book and I really enjoy it. Definitely recommended.

The series isn't very good if you're looking at it from a more critical angle. The writing is kind poor sometimes. It is highly easy to read however and despite being pretty bad half the time is still fun and entertaining. It's like reading television.

There are 2 trilogies. This is the first book in the first trilogy. Set in modern day Hong Kong and incorporating Chinese mythology, it covers new ground in the sci fi fantasy genre. Excellent read.
