Ratings and reviews

I've been a fan of Dorothea Benton Franks since the first of her Low Country tales. Her descriptions and attention to detail places the reader squarely in the midst of Low Country. You can almost smell the plough mud! Having said that, I found this book to be light in character and relationship development. Frank's earlier books delved much deeper into background and motivation. This book gave superfacial treatment to her characters and I just couldn't connect with them, as I did in earlier books.

Great reading & its content sent a powerful message. Battered women, children & the elderly need help. It's a silent epidemic. With this book, action will be taken. Thank you Ms. Benton Frank!

Family story. Subplots. Humorous, beachy, always a fun read.
