The highways are lined with abandoned automobiles; electricity is generated by indentured servants pedaling stationary bicycles. What little civilization remains revolves around Joey Armageddon's Sassy A-Go-Go strip clubs, where the beer is cold, the lap dancers are hot, and the bouncers are armed with M16s.

Accompanied by his cowboy sidekick Buffalo Bill, the gorgeous stripper Sheila, and the mountain man Ted, Mortimer journeys to the lost city of Atlanta -- and a showdown that might determine the fate of humanity.

entertaining but doesn't add up, and it is not worth the price. only read because there are so few similar books. this one had moments but fairly weak, and when you get to the end, you can tell the whole thing was written for the last paragraph. in other words, it's a poster, not a novel. just look at any soft porn poster and imagine the rest. it'll be cheaper and just as satisfying.

What if animal house ran the world when it falls apart? This is a humorous break from the the normal oh my god how are we to survive books.

I can't tell you how many times I've gone back and read this book over the years. The characters, the story, the adventure. You want nothing more than for the protagonists to find what they are looking for in this disheveled world.
