Good premise, but sadly explored in a naïve and childish way. Would you enter an alien space craft in plain clothing, no protective gear? You see living tissue on the craft, would you touch it with your bare hands? There are so many aspects to the story that are treated in this way. The whole thing takes a while to start, character arcs are created but never explored. It feels as if the story was meant to be much longer than it is but abandoned 2/3 of the way through. The ending is abrupt and feels like an after thought. Good premise but I feel like I wasted my time.

Warren Ellis sums up everything about why manned spaceflight should be pursued in this novel. The only negative things were how short this was and the ending seems more like a cliffhanger than a finale. I can only hope there's a sequel in the works.
