About this ebook

Fans of Jill Shalvis and Susan Mallery will love Laura Drewry’s warm and humorous new Friends First romance, a sexy romp about a good cop and a bad girl playing hard to get.

Ellie Palmer and cops don’t mix, and getting pulled over by Officer Brett Hale—again—doesn’t help. Neither does being forced to take a safe-driving course with him. Brett’s by-the-book attitude leaves Ellie ice-cold, and his rock-hard body won’t change that. Still, the more time she spends with the guy, the more she finds herself warming up to his unexpected charms.

Even though Brett comes off like a boy scout, Ellie has sparked something he wants badly enough to get him to rethink his past mistakes. But when her ex shows up, Brett makes it his mission to keep Ellie safe in the here and now. His gut tells him the guy’s trouble, and Ellie must agree, because she doesn’t complain when Brett pulls her close. To keep her safe, though, he’ll have to choose between breaking her heart . . . and breaking the rules.

I don’t usually say I “loved” a book but in this case I did. This is one of those books you can pick up and finish in a day. If flows easily, characters are well developed, and there is not this instant love. You could easily relate to them. There is a lot of dialogue and not a lot of introspection. What make this so good are the interactions between Ellie and Brett. Some of them are laugh out loud hilarious. Ellie is outspoken, and by no means whiny like females in other book. She will pretty much say whatever is on her mind. You just never know what is going to come out of her mouth. Oh and she hates cops. Then you have Brett and oh by the way he is a by the book cop. So you can probably get an idea how their interactions are going to go. Brett is constantly pulling Ellie over for speeding. Ellie does not take it well and is usually rude to Brett. She calls him all sorts of names, such as “Dudley Do-Right and Ponch”. When Ellie’s ex begins to stalk her, the local cops come up with a plan to imply Ellie and Brett are dating. Sure you can figure how that goes. Ending a little anticlimactic but otherwise great story.

Loved this latest installment in the Friends First series. This author has a great way of telling a story and keeping your interest all the way through the book. In this one we have Ellie Palmer, who moved to town to start over and get away from her past. Unfortunately her past has found her. The only person who can really help her is her nemesis Officer Brett Hale. She really has no problem with Brett, other than he's a cop and she doesn't trust cops. Ever! And this particular one seems to take great pleasure in stopping her every time he sees her on the road. The witty banter between these two make this at times a laugh out loud read. I really felt their chemistry flare to life as their relationship changed. This book is wonderfully written and will definitely give you hours of entertainment. I highly recommend it.

This is my third book by Laura Drewy and the third in the Friends First series, and even though the first one blew me away, they just keep getting better and better. Ellie and Brett are hilarious & hot together, something I can't often say when it comes to romance novels. The traffic class, not to mention all the run-ins they have living in the same small town, guarantee that these two get to know each other better, begin to see each other more clearly, and eventually let the sparks fly. Getting there is plenty of fun, all kinds of hot, and so much more interesting than one would normally expect from a romance novel. I absolutely recommend grabbing the whole series! ***FicCentral received this book from Random House LLC (via NetGalley) for free in exchange for an honest review.
