I’m a fan of historical novels and although this book is set in a period more recent than I usually read, i found the world of 1905 New York coming to life before me fascinating. I liked the central character and the supporting cast, though not fleshed out as much as you might find in a second or third novel, were sufficiently three-dimensional enough to leave some doubt about the villain. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, and if it’s as good, the one after that too. SPOILER: It might have been nice to get a little twist at the end, but as I was expecting a twist, the fact that there wasn’t one served almost the same purpose.
