This is my second book by Kate Ellis. I read the stone chamber first and really loved it. DI Paterson is not exactly my idea of a protagonist. There are no superheroes here but the characters are relatable. The way of writing is good. It's difficult to guess who the culprit is till the very end. There are two stories, one modern and one ancient, both are intriguing. I dint like their personal lives though. Attimes Paterson seemed unconcerned about his wife and not a supportive husband. Wesley's subtle interest in Rachel felt a bit disloyal towards his wife but that's just my personal opinion. Overall, this book is a page turner.

A very easy and somewhat predictable read.
