Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the court of King Peleus and his perfect son Achilles. Despite their differences, Achilles befriends the shamed prince, and as they grow into young men skilled in the arts of war and medicine, their bond blossoms into something deeper - despite the displeasure of Achilles's mother Thetis, a cruel sea goddess. But when word comes that Helen of Sparta has been kidnapped, Achilles must go to war in distant Troy and fulfill his destiny. Torn between love and fear for his friend, Patroclus goes with him, little knowing that the years that follow will test everything they hold dear.

Bought this book as have always liked the ancient Greek gods and goddess themes - really didn't expect it to be such a great read, the book has plenty of drama and action, character development along with quite a few plot twists. The same-sex relationship aspect was handled really well and fleshed out meaning I actually gave a crap about the main characters, their struggle with one another in the world of gods, goddesses, hero's and spears. The ending was fulfilling and a little heart-wrenching, would fully recommend this great story.

Found the book a bit disappointing. Found the story line to be pretty weak and the characters to not be well developed. Isnt what I expected the book to me and has some touching moments and ironies but I wouldn't recommend this book personally.

This book has captivated my imagination every time I have read it which is now four times. Yet nothing blurs or speeds past. Each word is turned carefully in your conscious to spin the most well-told story between Achilles and Patroclus. Told in first person from the eyes of Patroclus, you live the moments that legend foretold but never so humanly and passionately. Such a beautiful beautiful story
