About this ebook

"Jan Freed writes with spice and flair! An exciting new voice in contemporary romance."–Susan Wiggs

It's My Fair Lady in reverse!

Catherine Eliza Hamilton and her fiancé have a bet on. At stake? Catherine's professional future. To win, she needs to pass of a man of her fiancé's choosing as a wealthy "blue blood." For just one night.

Sound simple?

It's about as simple as making a silk purse out of a pig's ear. In fact, her fiancé takes her to a dive called The Pig's Gut to find the perfect "subject." His name is Joe Tucker–he's the handsome ex-baseball player who's hell-raising in the bar.

Now all Catherine has to do is convince Joe that this bet can change his life as well as her own. She also has to convince Joe's twelve-year-old daughter. And keep Joe from treating the whole bet as a joke, with Catherine as the punch line.

And she can't fall in love with Joe....

I completely adore this book, and I read it in two sittings (the first was unavoidably disrupted or it would have been one), and only (regretfully) deduct a star for noticeable formatting/spelling errors (words running into each other without necessary spaces, persistent erroneous characters, particularly in the second half of the book, e.g. 'b' for 'h', 't' for 'l') which were jarring even when I could work out what was meant and made a couple of words actually incomprehensible (the errors taken together suggested to me a poor conversion from another edition/format, and it's disappointing that nobody checked the book before putting it out for sale, particularly in the circumstances, given the wealth, popularity and history of the publishers, that they are either simply careless or else taking their customer base for granted by allowing errors in the book on sale which many, or even most, self-publishers would rightfully not allow, and correct before, or early during, a book's sale.)
