C.S. Friedman has delivered! Book 2 proved to be a brilliant story. Book one was very necessary to create the setting and the people involved but it seemed that the main character, Jesse, was lacking in depth. With book 2 she undergoes a state of evolution, and I not only connect with her humanity but I find myself admiring her courage. This book is full of surprises and while complex it complements the pace of the story. I loved it and I can't wait to read the next book. Just awesome!

An acknowledged master of Dark Fantasy, Celia Friedman is a John W. Campbell award finalist, and the author of the highly acclaimed Coldfire Trilogy, New York Times Notable Book of the Year This Alien Shore, In Conquest Born, The Madness Season, The Wilding and The Magister Trilogy. Ms. Friedman worked for twenty years as a professional costume designer, but retired from that career in 1996 to focus on her writing.
