About this ebook

In 2005, Brandon Sanderson debuted with Elantris, an epic fantasy unlike any other then on the market. To celebrate its tenth anniversary, Tor is reissuing Elantris in a special edition, a fresh chance to introduce it to the myriad readers who have since become Sanderson fans.

This new edition begins with a preface by author Dan Wells, the first person to read the completed novel, and a new afterword by Sanderson explaining how he came to write the book and its place in the Cosmere, the unified universe of all his Tor novels.

Also included is an expanded version of the "Ars Arcanum" appendix, with more of the technical details of the book's magic that fans can never get enough of.

Elantris was truly a milestone both for Sanderson and for the genre of epic fantasy. It deserves this special treatment, something Tor has done only once before, with Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game. Sanderson fans old and new will be excited to discover it.

This was my first Sanderson novel, deciding to give him a chance while waiting for "A Memory of Light" to come out. It started so slowly, and I hated the immediate confusion regarding the Shaod/Elantrians. I thought the book ended prematurely, it felt like right as we were watching our characters make huge discoveries about themselves that suddenly it was all over. Not to say I didn't enjoy the book, it just took awhile to hook me, then he built me way up only to leave me with a lackluster ending.

Wow! That was so poor. Reading this drivel made me think Orson Scott Card's stellar endorsement a serious personal favor to Brandon. I read "Way of Kings" and really liked it. This? I am speechless at how simple, how insipid much of the dialog was. The characterization and the silly names of people and places. Fjordish, Svordish? ugh! Amazing that I was able to power through and finish the entire book. Believe me, the last 100 pages are as poor as the rest of the book.Sorry, my honest opinion.

Elantris is a fantasy book written by Brandon Sanderson. It Begins with a Prologue in which the author tells about a "city of the gods" Where People chosen by the mysterious "Shaod" live. They are transformed to be fairer than any mortal and to live in a blissful peace for all eternity. Well, unfortunately, Eternity ended ten years ago. When a prince of the neighboring city is taken by the shaod he is exiled to Elantris, now a torn down city of "the living dead". His Wife (Whom he has never met before) Is widowed before they even meet! But Raoden (The prince)a true and utter optimist learns to find a way to live in this city of never ending pain (Quite literally to). Guided by the magic of the Elantrians Raoden must find a way to restore Elantris, end the pain, and get back to his wife before evil priests take over his home and the Magic of Elantris, (the only thing that can save them) is wiped from the face of the earth. Can he do it? The clock is ticking.
