About this ebook

Three heartwarming tales of old friends and new beginnings that span one year in an Amish community.

A Change of Heart by Beth Wiseman

Leah is no good at cooking, cleaning, sewing, gardening—the skills that young women need to make a proper Amish wife. All she wants to do is write stories, but she's sincerely tired of being a disappointment. Will she ever find someone who accepts her just as she is? And can an almost-Amish angel in red polka dots help her find her way?

A Place of His Own by Kathleen Fuller

When Josiah left Paradise the first time, he didn't even say good-bye. Now he's back, ten years later, and he's changed. Why is he so distant and bitter? Where is the boy who used to be Amanda's best friend? Amanda is learning that there are things even a capable Amish girl can't fix. But can she stand there and watch him walk away . . . again?

When Winter Comes by Barbara Cameron

It's been too long since Rebecca has done what she loves—put on her skates and fly across the ice. Five years have passed since a winter accident took her twin Lizzie and left Rebecca heartbroken. And Ben has waited for her all that time. At last she's starting to heal. But has too much time passed for their hearts to reconnect?

I picked up this book totally by accident...but as we all know nothing happens by mistake. I loved these stories. I grew up in northern Ontario Canada and knew nothing about the amish although I was familiar with the mennonites of southern Ontario. I see now how ignorant I really was. The stories made me FEEL something. As a new christian myself I truly believe that God wanted me to read these stories, and pass them on. The characters are rich, kind, loving, and would make me want to sit down for a hot cup of tea and learn to quilt. I want to visit an amish village or mennonite village and am fascinated by their ability to be self sustaining. I had heard about rumspring before and how the children decide what they want to do with their lives. I had always thought that the "plain" people were strict, but what I got from the stories is love. And Jesus' last commanment is to love. I will certainly be purchasing more, and passing on the books to others who don't know God. I didn't realize that the publishers were christian....as I said, nothing is by accident. Warm, loving and wonderful. A great read Thank you and God bless. Donna Anderson Harris p.s. A book about the history of the amish is next on my list, where do they come from, how do they stay the way they are without the influence of the outside?

this book describes many people's lives. every life contains many bumps in the road. it's how we Traverse those bumps as to whether we are happy, worried, or very sad. sometimes it's good to think outside of the box and go with that"inner feeling". This book shows how perseverance is what we need when our life seems to be very complicated. Excellent book, couldn't put it down.
