About the author

John D. MacDonald was a graduate of SyracuseUniversity and Harvard School of Business Administration and began his writing career when he was serving overseas with the United States Army during World War II. Instead of the usual letter home, he wrote a story to his wife Dorothy, which she successfully sold to a magazine. He wrote more than 70 books in his lifetime, and became one of the most widely read thriller writers in the world. His success was particularly recognized for his Travis McGee series, leading to critical acclaim and prestigious awards.
