This book was surprisingly well written, and can't help but remind readers of the Patrick O'Brian books... widely regarded as the benchmark of nautical historical fiction. I couldn't put this book down. From page one, I was pulled into the story and could not escape it's grip on my heart and imagination. I can only hope that this series continues for many, many more volumes. My hat is off to you, Mr. Fender... Well done, indeed.
