Another thoroughly enjoyable and well paced outing for Cato and Macro against the back drop of ancient Rome. I rather missed the grand scale and epic battles of some of the previous books in the series but the espionage and intrigue were enough to keep me turning pages to the end.

I didnt read much before i read scarrows first cato and macro story but i fell in love with the story and its characters. Coming to the end of each book left me with a childish exitment to hurry and buy the next....you would really enjoy this book afte r reading the entire story.

Could not put it down, a very good read! Scarrow never fails to disappoint.

About the author

Simon Scarrow pursued his great love of history as a teacher before becoming a full-time writer. His Roman soldier heroes Cato and Macro first appeared in 2000 in Under The Eagle, and have subsequently fought their way through over twenty novels, including Rebellion, Death to the Emperor and Centurion.
