because fantastic as the cover is, I found the story a little too far fetched, the characters not particularly likable or relatable, and the ending is quite the cop out. I mean, the author tries hard; the characters are well defined and there's some good use of language but it's ultimately hollow. I might recommend it for younger readers except for the vague threats of rape here and there, so no not really. Read A Little Princess or The Secret Garden instead which are timeless classics for all.

A well written and exciting plot make this book a joy to read. The mystery itself keeps you interested throughout the whole book. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
