Nice to see this being republished after 30 odd years. I have reread this about once every two or three years since I young and every time I get more out of it. The film will probably be terrible but at least it brings the book into the electronic era.

Educated at Harvard, Princeton and Oxford, Mark Helprin served in the Israeli Army, Israeli Air Force, and British merchant navy. He is the author of six novels and three short-story collections and he also writes non-fiction and children’s books.
