About this ebook

He's looking for a girl; not just any girl, and dark-haired, brown-eyed Carolyn is the one. But does Gabriele Caccini, a student at Manchester University, really know what he wants? When a beautiful, curvacious blonde comes into his life he starts to question his motives and emotions; even a seventeenth century vampire can do that. Alone in the modern world, limiting his feeds to one a year to avoid detection, Gabriele reflects on the origins of his immortality and questions why it is he who should have the vampire gene, when over 400 women have not survived his killing kiss ... But at a house party, a fellow student spikes Gabriele's drink with drugs and his self indulgent musings are suddenly turned upside down ...

About the author

Author and poet Sam Stone began writing aged 11 after reading her first adult fiction book, The Collector by John Fowles. "I'd never read anything like it. It was terrifying – but so exciting … that’s when I realised I liked to be scared," she admits. Her love of horror fiction began soon afterwards when she stayed up late one night with her sister to watch Christopher Lee in the classic Hammer film, Dracula. Since then she’s been a huge fan of vampire movies and novels old and new. The youngest of seven children, Sam struggled to find her own space and is a self-confessed bookworm. "I always have a book on the go," says Sam. "It's my time. Life wouldn’t be the same if I couldn’t chill sometimes with a good book. It's where I learnt about life, long before I lived it." Sam's writing has appeared in six anthologies for poetry and prose under the name Samantha Paige. Her first novel, Gabriele Caccini – The Vampire Gene Book 1 (as Paigan Stone), was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. Like all good authors she drew on her own knowledge and passions to write it. The novel won ForeWord Magazine's silver award for Best Horror Novel 2007. In September 2008 Gabriele Caccini was re-edited and republished by The House of Murky Depths as Killing Kiss. Sequels include : Futile Flame: The Vampire Gene Book 2, (The House of Murky Depths - July 2009) and Demon Dance: The Vampire Gene Book 3, (The House of Murky Depths - Autumn 2010). Her further credits include: Editor - Hines Sight (The Autobiography of one of Britain's Favourite Sons) by Frazer Hines. (December 2009) and "Fool's Gold" Short Fiction Contribution - The Bitten Word (NewCon Press - March 2010). Sam is currently working on a screenplay for Killing Kiss as well as a short story collection and a new supernatural crime series.
