About this ebook

"Pratchett's witty reach is even longer than usual here, from Pulp Fiction to His Girl Friday. Readers who've never visited Discworld before may find themselves laughing out loud." — Publishers Weekly

A war of words and a battle for the truth in Terry Pratchett's bestselling Discworld series

The denizens of Ankh-Morpork fancy they've seen just about everything. But then comes the Ankh-Morpork Times, struggling scribe William de Worde's upper-crust newsletter turned Discworld's first paper of record.

An ethical journalist, de Worde has a proclivity for investigating stories—a nasty habit that soon creates powerful enemies eager to stop his presses. And what better way than to start the Inquirer, a titillating (well, what else would it be?) tabloid that conveniently interchanges what's real for what sells.

But de Worde's got an inside line on the hot story concerning Ankh-Morpork's leading patrician, Lord Vetinari. The facts say Vetinari is guilty. But as William de Worde learns, facts don't always tell the whole story. There's that pesky little thing called . . . the truth.

The Discworld novels can be read in any order.

By Sir Pratchett, what else is there to know? Main character, memorable Mr. De Worde (also in Monstrous Regiment). As with all Pratchett books, it pays to Google the background so you don't miss any esoteric puns. This book is part of the innovations line of series (Making Money, Going Postal, Raising Steam). although may be read alone, works much better if you have read works in the series before. Search play store for Discworld & dl reading order and offshoots, it can get confusing.

This book gives you the in site to some of the later works of Pratchett's including "Going Postal" and Anhk Morpork guards. As they repeatedly complain about deWords antics.

Very funny discussions of truth and power that hits many important points in this new age of "fake news," "alternate facts," & intolerant, arrogant, self absorbed, tyrant wanna be's.

Terry Pratchett (1948–2015) was the acclaimed creator of the globally revered Discworld series. In all, he authored more than fifty bestselling books, which have sold more than one hundred million copies worldwide. His novels have been widely adapted for stage and screen, and he was the winner of multiple prizes, including the Carnegie Medal.
