I've been a voracious reader of all things crime/military history for about 30 yrs now. I probably go thru 50-70 books a yr, & I've gotten pretty hard to please over time, but this book was easy to place in my top 3 books I've ever read. Just about flawless as a story and technically James Ellroy is just...a beast. Wow, no one else would've or could've wrote this book. I'm awed

This is one of the most exciting, compelling, brilliantly written novels of all time.

Amazingly paranoid, crazy, and just wacky entertainment.

About the author

James Ellroy was born in Los Angeles in 1948. He is the author of the L.A. Quartet: The Black Dahlia, The Big Nowhere, L.A. Confidential, and White Jazz, and the Underworld U.S.A. Trilogy: American Tabloid, The Cold Six Thousand, and Blood’s A Rover. These seven novels have won numerous honors and were international best sellers. He is also the author of two collections, Crime Wave and Destination: Morgue! and two memoirs My Dark Places and The Hilliker Curse.  Ellroy currently lives in Denver, Colorado.
