I tried so, so very hard to love this book. The reviews are positive and the book forum I found it on is a beloved one to me, but I just couldn't. It was so terrible. Zero "humor" or "genius", 70% of the book is pointless, tired plot lines; that mostly just had me cringing the majority of the time. I finished it just to be sure it doesn't magically turn into a masterpiece by the end, but to no avail. I can not think of a single person I would recommend this book to.

Excellent read, instant classic, perfect for ages 13-21 in this story that is fit for all readers wanting a good, mature read.

About the author

Paul Murray was born in 1975. He studied English literature at Trinity College in Dublin and creative writing at the University of East Anglia. His first novel, An Evening of Long Goodbyes, was short-listed for the Whitbread Prize in 2003 and was nominated for the Kerry Irish Fiction Award. Skippy Dies, his second novel, was long-listed for the Booker prize and was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award.
