Parks second journalist procedural featuring reporter, Carter Ross, uncovering an illegal housing rehab scam in New Jersey. Interspersed with sarcastic wit, Ross examines the scene of a reported house fire that transpires into a story on deceit, graft, lies, misrepresentation, and more. Ross' comments lessen the pace of the plot line; otherwise a great read. J.P. Miller. Cambridge, MA
About the author
Brad Parks's first novel, Faces of the Gone, won the Shamus Award and the Nero Award for Best American Mystery--he is the first author to win both honors for one book. A former reporter for The Washington Post and The [Newark, N.J.] Star-Ledger, he is now a full-time author living in Virginia.
