About this ebook

Sleeping with a monster

At first, Linda Bergstrom's marriage to her husband James was idyllic. They were young and in love; he was about to enter the Navy and she was eager to start a family. But it wasn't long before the dream exploded. James became abusive and violent, prone to sudden bursts of anger, long silences, and unexplained disappearances. But Linda vowed to hold on, despite the pain and fear . . . and her disturbing suspicions about her husband's secret life.

Then, not long after their move to Houston, Texas, she made a terrifying discovery: James's hidden cache containing duct tape, a ski mask, and handcuffs. No longer could Linda Bergstrom deny the hideous truth.

The man she lived with, the man she married for love, was a dangerous psychopath. And there was no escape and nowhere to run. Because no one—not her friends, the Navy, or the police—would believe her.

Another excellent book by Kathryn Casey. Casey is without doubt one of the top true crime authors, one who has the ability to paint a graphic picture of the crime(s) and perpetrator for the reader without the need to be too graphic. Her books are always in a class along with writers like Ann Rule, Carlton Stowers, Greg Olsen and M.W. Phelps and written in the style pioneered by Truman Capote. Have read nearly all of Casey's writings and none have disappointed. It is rare to find writers such as this who continue to write books of such a high calibre. Will actively look for more from this author. Recommended to any lover of true crime reading.

Great job of the author to show both sides of the evil perpetrator and all the helpless victims. Also serves as good information on how to keep criminals like this out of society. Definitely worth reading just to be able to petition this predator away for as long ad possible.

I'm an Anne Rule fan because she picks apart the seam of a crime through the psychology of the people involved. I believe Kathryn Casey, as a true crime writer, has not only matched this style, but surpassed it. I couldn't put this book down. Well done!
