About this ebook

Mason has never known his father, but longs to. All he has of him is a DVD of a man whose face is never seen, reading a children's book. One day, on a whim, he plays the DVD for a group of comatose teens at the nursing home where his mother works. One of them, a beautiful girl, responds. Mason learns she is part of a horrible experiment intended to render teenagers into autotrophs—genetically engineered, self-sustaining life-forms who don't need food or water to survive. And before he knows it, Mason is on the run with the girl, and wanted, dead or alive, by the mysterious mastermind of this gruesome plan, who is simply called the Gardener.

Will Mason be forced to destroy the thing he's longed for most?
The Gardener is a 2011 Bank Street - Best Children's Book of the Year.

I love this book I didnt buy it on here I have the actual book, but it is GREAT. Super interesting. You just have to read to know. It takes until about chapter 10 for mason to actually learn about how people were like plants. But still GREAT!

Mason has grown up under a veil of secrets. The only thing he's ever seen of his father is from a DVD played for him when he was recovering from being mauled by a dog. He has never seen his face. Then we fast forward ten years and find Mason going about helping others. Could this be because people look at him due to his scars? His helpfulness seems to win them over. He loves athletics and Biology. His mother works for a nursing home. When he decides he wants to intern for them she puts her foot down. He visits four teens she takes care of who are in a coma. When he plays his father's DVD, one of the teens, beautiful Laila wakes up. She convinces him that she must escape. He helps her and finds out there are more secrets his mom has been hiding from him and they involve his father, and the reason Laila has scars on the back of her legs. Want to know what those secrets are? Read this great book.
