Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni is a renowned poet, author, and educator.
Apart from this book, Divakaruni has written a number of other fiction books, and some of them include The Unknown Errors Of Our Lives, Sister Of My Heart, The Palace Of Illusions: A Novel, and Grandma And The Great Gourd.
Banerjee was born in the year 1956, in Kolkata, India. She completed her Bachelor’s of arts degree from the University of Calcutta in the year 1976, followed by a Master’s degree from Wright State University. Divakaruni also holds a Doctoral degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Currently, she works at the University of Houston, holding the position of the Betty And Gene McDavid Professor Of Writing. She has also been awarded with the American Book Award for her book, Arranged Marriage. Divakaruni’s literary works mostly revolve around subjects such as historical fiction, fantasy, magical realism, and realistic fiction. She has written articles for over 50 magazines, and her books have been translated in more than 20 languages. Divakaruni currently resides in Houston along with her spouse, and two sons.
