About this ebook

Golden sand, pounding surf, a sense of endless possibility--and four unforgettable stories of love, friendship, and second chances. . .

The Brass Ring by Lisa Jackson

It's a beautiful June day, perfect for a wedding--until Shawna learns that her fiancé, Parker, has been involved in a car crash. Though his injuries heal, his memories of her are gone. Yet Shawna won't stop reaching to reclaim the love they once shared. . .

June's Lace by Cathy Lamb

June MacKenna is done--with her high-pressure legal career, her cheating soon-to-be-ex, and the stress of city living. In her studio on the Oregon coast, she creates beautiful lace wedding dresses, with no intention of ever wearing one again herself. Then songwriter Reece rents the house next door, and sets out to change her mind. . .

Second Chance Sweethearts by Holly Chamberlin

Thea Foss is putting a bad marriage behind her in the pretty vacation town of Ogunquit, Maine. What's past is past. . ..Until her first love wanders into the local diner, reminding Thea of the person she once was, and the life it's not too late to claim. . .

Carolina Summer by Rosalind Noonan

Jane Doyle needs to get out of New York--the farther the better. She's headed toward Florida, but thanks to a storm along North Carolina's Outer Banks, she finds herself stranded in a beautiful, remote town that soon feels a lot like home. And thanks to the local sheriff, she finds herself staying longer than she planned--and feeling less lost at sea than ever. . .

"Beach Season" is a collection of four short stories by Lisa Jackson, Cathy Lamb, Holly Chamberlin and Rosalind Noonan. Each story takes place in a beach community and they all involve some kind of suspense related to a lover or an ex-lover. I found Cathy Lamb's story 'June's Lace' to be the most charming of the collection as she describes how a former up-tight attorney who was raised by hippy parents becomes a wedding dress designer and finds love in the process. Chamberlin's 'Second Chance Sweethearts' takes the reader to a time when first love was forsaken and time intervened. When a second chance comes for Thea and her high school sweetheart, Thea's past threatens to undermine a chance at second love. Noonan's 'Carolina Summer' has the reader pondering the mystery of Jane's being on the run in the Carolinas and her attachment to the local sheriff Cooper, a man with whom she feels an immediate attraction as well as a sense of security. In 'The Brass Ring', Lisa Jackson pairs a charming former mail tennis star with a tenacious female doctor. The night before their planned wedding, the tennis star is in an automobile accident which renders him unconscious. When he awakens, he has no memory of his fiance. This is the kind of book you want to stuff into your beachbag for a quick read on a warm summer day at the beach. The stories are somewhat predictable and yet charming in their simplicity and honesty. The characters come off as everyday people who just happen to get caught up in the lives of others who will become significant others and this scenario is a joy for most avid readers of romance novels.

About the author

Romance author Lisa Jackson grew up in Oregon. She graduated from Oregon State University and started working in the banking/investment industry. In April 2011 Lisa Jackson's title Devious hit the Publisher's Weekly bestseller list and in Aug 2012 her title You Don't Want to Know made The New York Times Best Seller List. In 2014 she continued this trend with her book, Close to Home.
