About this ebook

The very first Logan McRae novel in the No.1 bestselling crime series from Stuart MacBride.

DS Logan McRae and the police in Aberdeen hunt a child killer who stalks the frozen streets.

Winter in Aberdeen: murder, mayhem and terrible weather...

It’s DS Logan McRae’s first day back on the job after a year off on the sick, and it couldn’t get much worse. Three-year-old David Reid’s body is discovered in a ditch: strangled, mutilated and a long time dead. And he’s only the first. There’s a serial killer stalking the Granite City and the local media are baying for blood.

Soon the dead are piling up in the morgue almost as fast as the snow on the streets, and Logan knows time is running out. More children are going missing. More are going to die. And if Logan isn’t careful, he could end up joining them.

I hadn't read anything by Stuart MacBride before. Story was well put together, kept you thinking trying to figure out how it would end. Once the story for moving it kept your attention. It's not the most favorable topic, but it's real life stuff, and I'm sure police have had to deal with far worse. So be prepared for what there is to read. Also, I liked how the author had several cases in the story occurring at once. I was happy to learn that the author has made a series with the DS Logan McRae.

This review has 2 parts: English and Türkçe. English: This was my first book of Stuart MacBride and will be the last too. I struggled with myself to finish the book and put down it several times but again pushed myself to read it, because of the high points on Goodreads to find out the end at least! the book was boring with linear approach that author had taken throughout the book. the book had no peak points and it was full of ordinery speeches and explanations. It failed to grasp my attention, despite it regained necessary dynamic at the last 50 pages, but up to that point there was nothing except news-like texts and needless speeches with lots of unnecessarily explained stuffs mostly written in Aberdeen accent!! the author is British and he used even local British-Aberdeen accent in the book which made the book even more hard to understand for non-native readers. I mean the book was full of local expressions and idioms and I got tired reffering to the dictionary back and force to find out what author meant. the mystery part of book was not deep and I can say the story can be seen as a simple and ordinary police routine. I will not read any books of this author again. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Türkçe: yazardan okudugum ilk ve son kitapti. kitabi bitirmek icin kendimle adeta savasa girdim. kac kez birakmagi dusundum ama Goodreads'de yuksek puan aldigi icin kendimi tekrar okumaga zorladim ve sonunda iskence bitti. kitabin Turkce'si vardi ama Amazon'dan cok ucuz olarak aldigim orijinal dilindeki versiyonunu okumaga basladim. cok sıkıcı ve gereksiz konusmalarla dolu bir romandi ve yazar bir heyecan yaratmak icin hic ugrasmamis. yazar kitabin cogu yerinde yoresel Ingliz aksaninda cumleler yazmis ki buda cumlelerin anlamasini cok zorlastirmis; hatta kitabi okurken kendimi hep sozluklerde kelime ararken buldum. kitabin son 50 sayfasinda biraz hareket var ama o noktaya varmak icin kendimi adeta psykolojik iskencege maruz biraktim! Goodreads'de yuskek puan aldigi icin tavsiye edip edemeyecegimi bilmiyorum; en iyisi kendiniz karar verin!
