I never got into Star Trek: Deep Space Nine when it was on, but I wanted to get acquainted with the characters and setting. I took this book to Canada with me this summer, where it came along on a three-week canoe trip in the backwoods of northern Ontario. I finally finished it a day or two before the second trip of the summer, and I vowed to get DS9 DVDs ASAP. The stories, though written by different authors, have the same kind of continuity one expects from the Trek franchise; continuity equal to that of the many series, in fact. The plots are involving and interesting, with much character development and action. I dare say that this book could be the one to lure those Star Wars fans over to the Trek Side. It just might be interesting enough to grab their attention.

I kept waiting for Sisco but then Star Trek always did leave an opening for further adventure.

S. D. Perry is a novelist living in Portland, Oregon.  She is currently lives with her husband, Myk, her two children Cyrus and Myk Jr, and their two dogs. She mostly writes tie-in novels based on works in the fantasy/science-fiction/horror genre, including Resident Evil, Star Trek, Aliens and Predator. She has also written a handful of short stories and movie novelizations. Her favorite Star Trek series is the original series, with her favorite characters being “The Big Three”—Kirk, Spock, and McCoy.
