Arthur Bannister has been unexpectedly accepted into Shiverton Hall, which, as it turns out, is an incredibly spooky school, full of surprises. At least there are a few friendly faces: George, who shows him around; also Penny and Jake. But not all the faces are friendly. There are the bullying Forge triplets for starters. And then there is the acid tongue of the headmistress, Professor Long-Pitt, who seems to go out of her way to make Arthur's life a misery.
Luckily Arthur has his new friends to cheer him up. Although there are some friends that you don't want to have at all, as Arthur is soon to find out.

I totally didn't expect the creeps and gore from this book at all! Creeped me out at so many parts and I could almost see the characters and the friends. Really good book for a quick and thrilling read. If u like horror/thrillers, look no further

This book helped me survive year 11. I am so greatful that it has been written in such a well crafted way. Best book I've read in years

I thought I wouldn't like it, but i did. A thriller that made me afraid to sleep alone in my bedroom
About the author
Emerald Fennell is a BAFTA and Academy Award-winning writer, director and actress. She wrote and directed acclaimed film Saltburn, released in 2023. She has appeared in Anna Karenina, Call the Midwife and The Crown and won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Promising Young Woman. She lives in London with a very quiet ghost. Her first novel, Shiverton Hall, is a deliciously creepy tale that will have readers needing to keep the light on at night.
