This book will take you on an adventure through middle earth meeting all kinds of creatures and making life long friends. For everything that was written and intended with this book the one theme is strong and most important and that is the theme of friendship. If you have not yet, pull a seat closer to the fire or snuggle down somewhere warm and have Tolkien take you through the shire to riverdell and onwards still...

I first read The Lord of the Rings trilogy when I was 13 years old, and have lost count of the number of times I have read it over the years. It is one of the most popular books in the world, I think because the themes resonate deeply within us. It is truly a tale of great beauty, of courage, loss, and hope in the face of defeat. Everyone should read this

J.R.R.Tolkien (1892-1973) was a distinguished academic, though he is best known for writing The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion and The Children of Hurin, plus other stories and essays. His books have been translated into over 50 languages and have sold many millions of copies worldwide.
