About this ebook

When her free-spirited mother dies in a tragic accident, sixteen-year-old Alexandria Lee is forced to leave her West Coast home and move in with a wealthy grandmother she's never known in Savannah, Georgia. By birth, Alex is a rightful if unwilling member of the Magnolia League-Savannah's long-standing debutante society. But white gloves and silk gowns are a far cry from the vintage t-shirts and torn jeans shorts she's used to.

Alex is the first in decades to question the Magnolia League's intentions, yet even she becomes entangled in their seductive world. The members enjoy youth, beauty and power...but at what cost? As Alex discovers a pact between the Magnolias and the Buzzards, a legendary hoodoo family, she discovers secrets-some deadly-hidden beneath the glossy Southern veneer.
New York Times bestselling author Katie Crouch's poignant and humorous voice shines in this enchanting and mysterious story about girls growing up in a magical Southern city.

Katie Crouch has created a fantastic southern tale with hoodoo, secrets, and a debutante society that will surely keep those who love the paranormal gripped to every word. After a tragic accident and loss of her mother, Alexandria Lee’s world changes in a way she could never have imagined. She is thrust into a southern debutante lifestyle and a secret society that is completely opposite of the communal life she adores. Nothing is as it seems and everyone has a secret! Bringing the south to life, Crouch developed a cast of realistic characters with paranormal components. The main character, Alex, can easily be placed amongst some of the literary world’s strongest fictional characters, in my opinion. Her emotional connection and bond to her mother are perfect examples of the realistic qualities that make Alexandria such a fabulous character to follow as she becomes the center of attention in "The Magnolia League." The paranormal aspect of "The Magnolia League" is superb and refreshing. It was nice to delve into a paranormal novel that doesn’t take place in an urban jungle. The detailed descriptions throughout the novel paint a clear and beautiful image of Atlanta and all things southern. While some of the characters were at times annoyingly jaded, it didn’t take away from the story as a whole. Overall, I found "The Magnolia League" to be a fun and enjoyable read. Readers that enjoy the paranormal will love the refreshing new southern world Crouch has put to paper. Crouch has quickly become one of my favorite authors and I can’t wait to dive into her other works.
