Loved it as a teen. The Black was the answer to a lonely child. I will always LOVE him! BTW, I'm 71 & still ride Him in my dreams.

Excellent read for younger readers snd teens. Classic story, pulls you into the book with the characters and takes you on a journey far away from home!

My teacher asigned my classmates and I in reading groups and I pick this book. At first I thought it was garbage, but I wouldn't put the book down after the 5th chapter.

About the author

Walter Farley's first book, The Black Stallion, was an instant hit when it appeared in 1941. Mr. Farley went on to write thirty-three other enormously popular books about the Black Stallion and other horses which were published in more than twenty countries. He died in 1989, shortly before the publication of his last novel, The Young Black Stallion, written with his son Steven.
