About this movie

Apartment building superintendent Cleveland Heep rescues what he thinks is a young woman from the pool he maintains. When he discovers that she is actually a character from a bedtime story who is trying to make the journey back to her home, he works with his tenants to protect his new friend from the creatures that are determined to keep her in our world.

Apparently it's typical of some of M. Night Shyamalan's later work. It has the fairy tale quality to it, but I'm not sure how suitable it is for children. Much has been made of Shyamalan's "self-indulgence" in casting himself in an important protagonist's role, but I think the criticism is overstated, as he does not have more screen time than is called for, and he does little more than stare at people, open-mouthed. Too expensive for the rental on Google, though.

Oh yes, I liked this one. Giamatti pleased me in his quite tragic role of a lone janitor and the mythology created by Shyamalan was actually nice.

Il film mi è piaciuto a metà. Il primo tempo è noioso mentre il secondo è veramente bello.
