Michael is a devoted father, husband and veteran who has struggled with severe PTSD for the last decade. Plagued with night terrors, Michael has reached his breaking point and comes to Jim and Lindsey at Paws and Stripes for help. Jim selects a few potential shelter dogs for Michael to pair up with at dog selection; Thomas; a rambunctious Lab Shar Pei cross and Tennessee; a soulful Hound Shepard mix. Can a man seriously damaged in a combat explosion, come back to life with the help of a service dog?

Duane was one of the first veterans Jim and Lindsey helped. But his service dog can no longer help him and he has been thrown back into a downward spiral of depression and PTSD. Can Jim and Lindsey pull him out of it by getting him to finally accept what he really needs--a new battle buddy? Meanwhile, Rebel, another veteran already in the program, hits a roadblock as his family struggles to get used to living with a service dog.

She turns to Jim, Lindsey and a service dog named Atticus for help. Then Jim makes it his mission to find Thatcher, a fun loving service dog, a home and veteran in need of assistance.

About this show

In the new documentary series Dogs of War on A&E®, veterans with PTSD are paired with shelter dogs trained to help them recover after returning home from combat. Together they take an emotional journey out of the darkness.
