So disappointed. Unnecessarily gory and gross. Was hoping for something like Sopranos or Boardwalk. I am not squeamish but found the extreme gore very off putting and so unnecessary for the plot. We turned it off mid premiere episode. Yuck.

As far as Gore, I didn't see any real Gore, I love how it tells about the faults of the hero and his friends. So I know it's about actuality rather than a fantastical hero. Makes me feel like I could be a hero.

My son got me addicted to this show. It's base and gritty. The writing is perfection. The acting superb. People are for the most part , like people who would have existed back then . If I had to make a criticism it would be simple. This is NOT a show to watch with the kids or those easily upset and offended. That being said, I think the BBC may have been too hasty in canceling this show.
