In the season premiere, a sting operation against a local kingpin crosses paths with an FBI investigation, forcing Carter and his team to work with FBI Special Agent Alex Rice. When a close friend of Carter's is caught in the crossfire, his part of the investigation takes on a new purpose.

With Carter and his team now working with FBI Agent Alex Rice as part of a special joint task force, they go after a local drug ring in hopes of catching a bigger fish. Ty connects with a volatile gangster, while Dean tries to get close to an attractive art gallery owner, Maria (recurring guest star JORDANA BREWSTER -- Chuck, The Fast and the Furious).

In order to get closer to their ultimate mark, the head of a notorious Mexican drug cartel, Carter has to pose as a porn king looking to expand his business into pharmaceuticals. But the case has Dean in an ever-complicated relationship with Maria (recurring guest star JORDANA BREWSTER), the attractive art gallery owner and daughter of a drug dealer.

The team investigates the disappearance and presumed murder of a law-school student with a gambling problem and $50,000 of debt. But the case has a negative effect on Ty, and Alex gives Jaimie a hard time over the risks she is willing to take with their target, a no-excuses loan shark.

The team stages a jailbreak for the younger brother of a prominent anti-government militia leader in an effort to locate him. But things go awry when another prisoner is added to the mix. Meanwhile, Ty's extracurricular activities are starting to affect his job performance -- just as Alex is preparing a report on the task force.

The fatal shooting of a drug dealer causes problems for the team, who were hoping to use the dealer to get to their real target, a drug lord whose crew dresses as DEA agents in order to steal from other dealers. Jaimie must pose as a junkie to corner their guy, while Ty and Dean are stuck dealing with a shifty snitch.

The team goes after a home-invasion crew, with Ty on the inside posing as a thief and Alex and Carter acting as the bait. When their target gets wind of the setup, however, things go wrong.

A young black man is gunned down, and evidence points to possible corruption by a noted figure in the black community. For Ty, who has been dating a woman with a connection to the shooting, the case takes on special significance.

In the first part of the two-part season finale, Carter, Dean and Jaimie go undercover to corner two drug-smuggling brothers who use a flower importing business as a cover for their activities. But things go awry when Homeland Security requests that the team keep the smuggling business open so they can trap a potential terrorist. Meanwhile, Dean asks Jaimie out on a proper date; Ty has second thoughts about his impending divorce; and, for Carter -- a major life change. Recurring guest stars include MICHELLE BORTH (The Forgotten, Tell Me You Love Me), SEAMUS DEVER (Castle) and JOHNNY MESSNER (Chuck, Cold Case, The O.C.).

In the second part of the two-part season finale, the team continues to infiltrate the drug-smuggling ring run by two brothers in order to corner a terrorist looking to bring dirty bomb parts into the country. But the two sides of the case conflict with one another, forcing Carter and his team to choose sides. Meanwhile, Alex is offered a promotion in Miami, and Ty continues to struggle over his divorce. Recurring guest stars include MICHELLE BORTH, SEAMUS DEVER and JOHNNY MESSNER. NAVID NEGAHBAN (24, Brothers) guest stars.
