About this show

From PBS - Can six men endure Shackleton's Antarctic rescue mission today?  Sir Ernest Shackleton's Endurance expedition is the most extraordinary story of leadership and survival ever. After their ship was crushed in Antarctic pack ice, Shackleton and five of his crew embarked on an 800-nautical mile winter crossing of the roughest ocean on the planet in a tiny wooden boat, weathering 100-foot waves and hurricane-force winds. After reaching land, Shackleton and his team pressed on and traversed a 3000-meter mountain range to make it to civilization and get help for the 28 men that remained behind on the pack ice. Shackleton's epic adventure has never been repeated—until now.  Using a replica boat, and the same equipment and clothing as would have been used in 1914, explorer Tim Jarvis and his crew attempt to follow in Shackleton's wake, going beyond the point of no return, using their first-hand extreme experience measured against historical accounts to unlock the secrets of Shackleton's survival. Can modern man live up to one of the greatest legends in polar history? Will Tim and his team survive to tell the tale of Chasing Shackleton?

After attending a lecture with Tim Jarvis at L.L. Bean, my wife and I had to see the documentary that was shot. It really show's how amazing Shackleton's expedition was, and the feats Tim and the team accomplished.
