Season 2 episodes (13)

1 Spring Break Madness
1/9/11
It's Alaska's version of spring break sans swimsuits — the 25th annual Arctic Man. Follow troopers as they police the four-day festival that hosts more than 12,000 partygoers. With less than one trooper for every 500 partiers, troopers patrol excessively on the first day to give the impression there are more troopers than there actually are. Arctic Man's beer tent is the focal point for excessive drinking, debauchery, fights and fake IDs. As troopers patrol the beer tent, they come across a drug dealer who has been offering marijuana to an off-duty trooper. It takes a coordinated undercover effort to bring the dealer down. Meanwhile, mainland troopers police the island of Little Diomede, located just miles from Russia. They fly in and land on the ice-covered Bering Strait, before apprehending a sex offender. And Alaska's primary law enforcement agency is faced with an epidemic.
2 Arctic Force
1/16/11
Suicide rates are climbing in native Alaskan communities, and troopers race to save a woman holding a gun to her head. Meanwhile, troopers police the island of Little Diomede, located just over two miles from Russia in the Bering Strait. With temperatures of -40° and wind gusts up to 80 mph, catching criminals here is uniquely challenging. Troopers must fly in and land on the ice-covered Bering Strait, apprehend a sex offender, and transport him via snowmobile and plane back to the mainland.
3 Justice Below Zero
1/16/11
In the Mat-Su Valley, one of Alaska's most crime-ridden areas, all units are on the lookout for a pickup whose driver is in possession of a stolen handgun. In the Talkeetna Mountains, veteran search and rescue experts search punishing terrain by chopper for lost snowmobilers. Without leads, it's like searching for a needle in a snowy haystack. Meanwhile, officers head to a suspected marijuana grow house and hit the jackpot.
4 Manhunt
1/23/11
It's an all out manhunt in -33° temperatures when troopers scour the streets of Fairbanks in search of a fugitive. Jewelry and other items have been stolen, and now a break-in has been reported, which could be a clue. Hundreds of miles south, in a region known for rugged mountains and pristine glaciers, Officer Vic Dillon is on the graveyard shift investigating a racially motivated assault.
5 Shots Fired
1/30/11
An annual 200-mile snowmobile race across the frozen tundra of western Alaska means troopers have their hands full. Between the high speeds and rugged terrain, it's no surprise that they're called into action when racers are injured in a crash. As many Alaskans are gun owners, tensions between neighbors can quickly elevate, and troopers respond to calls of shots fired. Even in the rural villages, bullet holes in government buildings serve as an ever-present reminder of the danger troopers face.
6 Armed and Dangerous
2/13/11
In the largest state in the nation, troopers are stretched thin when calls overlap and must be prioritized. When a possibly fatal motorcycle accident involving alcohol requires the attention of troopers, they must decide who stays and who responds to a call for domestic violence. Then, troopers head to the most remote and rugged terrains of Alaska's Arctic to check on isolated villages and enforce the state's strict wildlife regulations. In this hunters' haven, troopers come upon a dead walrus and must determine if hunters are to blame.
7 High-Speed Chase
2/20/11
Troopers pursue a felon in a high-speed chase, track down suspected lawbreakers across Alaska's remote wilderness, and hunt for missing rafters on the Tonsina River. Under the midnight sun of the Alaskan summer, it's all in a day's work.
8 Crime Under the Midnight Sun
2/27/11
Alaska State Troopers must keep the peace over the holiday weekend by cracking down on underage drinking, halting disorderly conduct and handling some unusual characters. Then they're off to investigate a moose death in the backwoods and on to the islands of the Aleutian Chain, where crime picks up with the fishing season.
9 Highway Hijinks
3/6/11
Follow Troopers as they battle crime and enforce wildlife laws from the breathtaking Seward Highway to the Alaskan back country. Stretching 127 miles on the Kenai Peninsula, the Seward Highway is packed with locals and tourists, making it a busy season for Troopers. From traffic stops to fleeing suspects to checking bear bait stations, Alaska State Troopers hunt criminals and keep the peace.
10 Operation Moose Decoy
3/13/11
Troopers initiate "Operation Moose Decoy" to catch hunters who violate the law. They position a life-size fake moose by a road and bust unsuspecting poachers once they've taken a shot. Meanwhile, a motorcyclist crashes while trying to outrun the law, and officers must contend with the criminal's injuries before arresting him.
11 Anchorage Undercover
3/20/11
Troopers team up with the FBI to confront Anchorage's drug problem - taking down 17 suspects in one night. A known felon barricades himself inside his house, resulting in a tense standoff for hours. Meanwhile, the search is on for an injured hiker stuck halfway up a treacherous mountain.
12 Vice Squad
3/27/11
Follow the Alaska State Troopers all the way from Alaska's largest city, Anchorage, to Hope, a remote village of less than 200 people, famous during the gold rush. Troopers and Anchorage PD chase down thieves and smugglers, set up prostitution stings with the VICE squad, catch drunk drivers, regulate moose and caribou hunts, and greet Buddy, a famous dog who saved his family from a fire. This action-packed episode takes you right in the thick of it while Alaska's law enforcement agencies combat dangerous crimes in the tough and expansive Alaskan frontier.
13 Dazed and Confused
3/27/11
Under the midnight sun, troopers engage in a dangerous 90 mph pursuit until they apprehend the "dazed and confused" driver at gunpoint and find illegal drugs in the car. When officers respond to a domestic dispute, they are greeted by a gun-wielding homeowner. And troopers patrol the dangerous Copper River, where powerful currents and steep cliffs sometimes make for a deadly recreational area.

About this show

They are the first line of defense on the last frontier, the roughly 400 state troopers who patrol the rugged and unforgiving terrain of Alaska. One of the toughest law enforcement agencies in the nation, these officers often travel hundreds of miles in piercing subzero temperatures, where any person they encounter could be armed.

With rare access, National Geographic follows the Alaska State Troopers capturing a mixture of raw nature and criminal activity throughout the Alaskan wilderness and its remote villages.

I liked this show and bought a couple of seasons, but I have to admit that after watching about ten episodes, they start to become redundant and begin to all look the same with just a different cast of characters. Got to had it to the wildlife troopers in particular. They have a huge territory to cover and have a very risky job. I also don't envy the cameramen who have a really tough job. Loved the episode where the perp is caught and asks who the cameramen are. The trooper replies it's the National Geographic. To which the guy says, " I don't see any bears..."

I was hooked from day one. To hear it will be no more really put a dent in my viewing schedule. Oh yes, love the scene were a guy gets a DUI and later tells the cameraman to put the camera into a dark orifice. Snicker. I lived in Canada for 20-years and feel they treat their criminal element very respectful regardless of the situation when compared to the RCMP. Yeah the lower 48 could use a few lessons.
