Dr. Oakley leads a lynx kitten vaccination that turns into a pursuit in the underbrush. In Alaska, she checks on a hound dog with swollen ears, two black labs who wound up on the losing side of a porcupine fight and a rehabilitated great horned owl that's ready to be set free. None of that adds up to the emotional toll it takes on the Yukon Vet when her eldest daughter Sierra heads off into the bush for three weeks of intense guide training.

It’s the end of the summer in the Yukon and time for many animals to go into rut. Michelle visits Wayne Grove’s El Dorado Ranch whose elk bulls aren’t showing signs of going into rut. She ends the day with one of the most coveted experiences as a veterinarian, releasing an animal back into the wild.
