As an amateur World War II historian, this program truly blows me away with its authenticity and incredibly compelling story. I had read the book (of course all of Stephen Ambrose's books) and this show really follows his work, not something you get that much of these days. This series is my favorite World War II military history show. Schindler's list is my favorite Holocaust movie. I have bought this series, and I have watched it at least 5 times. You need to watch this, you will be enlightened and not the least disappointed.

I enjoy War programs that show what life was like,as we all need reminding from time to time that our lives could have gone down a VERY different path, thanks to the bravery of men and women who risked their lives. This series not only shows us what soldiers lives were like, we hear from the men directly. The viewer can see the soldiers in clips, either before or after a scene, giving us a rare and unique insight into their daily struggles with the training, their deployment, the incredible cold weather, how they coped with seeing their brothers blown to pieces in front of their eyes, how their own injuries were dealt with and how their incredible experience impacted on them after the fighting finished. The actors playing each soldier were fantastic, they brought the characters to life and made you feel like you really knew them. Many scenes had me on the edge of my seat and others weeping like a baby! I was just glad that I had the DVD set, as I would have been too impatient to wait a week for the next installment!

A stunning mini series that follows Easy Company through WWII from training to the end of the war in Europe. The interviews preceding each episode with the real characters themselves reminds us this based on real events. Not revealing their identities until the end was a brilliant move. Episode 9 'why we fight' is extremely moving. There are many fresh faced actors in this that are now house hold names. Overall for me, in my top 3 series.
