The best. The character is in fact divine...in a Robin Hood crossed with Sherlock Holmes, crossed with Jimmy Stewart crossed with Cary Grant crossed with Jack Nicholson crossed with Henry Miller sort of way. Lovejoy always wins because - one gradually comes to understand - he deserves it. So one watches again and again in an attempt to divine his secret.
