Our policies play an important role in ensuring a positive experience for both users and publishers of content on Google Play Newsstand. Please join us in this effort by respecting these policies. These policies are subject to change, so please check back for updates. Please also refer to the Google Play Terms of Service for important information about the terms that apply to the provision of content from Google Play Newsstand.
Once you've purchased content or a subscription to content on Google Play Newsstand, it is available to you in your Google account. While you have the right to access your content, please note the copyright still resides with the periodical's rights holder, usually the publisher who submitted the title. Please refer to the section below entitled "Copyright and Digital Rights."
You may not lend or co-own any of your content from Google Play Newsstand purchases with another person.
Single issue purchases of magazine titles are not refundable unless you are unable to access the issue or there is otherwise a defect with the content or the service.
Subscriptions are on-going and automatically renew at the end of each term. We will not refund charges from non-current terms (e.g. for subscriptions that have ended). If the subscription term is longer than a month and less than 7 days have passed, we may issue a refund for the entire term. If there is a defect or you are unable to access content in the case of subscription purchases, Google may grant a refund for the entire term or a partial refund for content not received in the remaining term of the subscription. If you receive a refund for the entire term, Google may remove access to all content, including any content you have already received as part of that term.
Google may in its discretion decline repeated requests for refunds that appear to be abusing our processes. When a refund is granted, we'll remove access to content associated with the charge and your money will be returned. To submit a refund request, please contact Google through Google Play Customer Support. If Google chooses to issue you a refund, the refund of your purchase price shall be your sole remedy.
In the event a title becomes unavailable through Google Play Newsstand, Google will refund the user (such refund may be for the entire term or for content not yet received). Where Google's rights from the publisher permit it, you will continue to have access to content from the title that has already been delivered in your account. In certain cases, we may need to remove customer access to content stored online. In these cases you will receive a full refund of the purchase price of the purchased content, which shall be your sole remedy.
Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each subscription term -- e.g. monthly recurring subscriptions will automatically renew every month until cancelled, annual recurring subscriptions will recur every year until cancelled.
You may cancel your subscription at any point, meaning your subscription will not renew at the end of the current term. Please visit our cancelling subscriptions help page for instructions on how to do this. If you cancel during a free trial period, you will not be charged.
You will be charged at the rate you initially agreed for the initial term of your subscription. If the Provider later increases the price of the subscription, Google will notify you and give you the option to accept or decline the price increase as described below. The increase will apply to the next payment due from you after the notice, provided that you have been given at least 30 days' prior notice before the charge is made. If you are given less than 30 days' prior notice, the price increase will not apply until the payment after the next payment due. If your subscription is cancelled and you decide to re-subscribe, you will be charged at the then current subscription rate.
If you accidentally purchase a subscription or magazine single issue using a different Google Account, Google may grant a refund for your purchase providing you notify Google within seven (7) days of your purchase. You can then re-purchase your subscription or single issue using your preferred Google Account. In order for your request to be considered, both accounts must be in good standing. This option is not available as a way to lend or 'gift' a purchase from one customer to another. To request this type of refund, please contact Google Play Customer Support.
You can indicate whether or not you would like to receive any communications from the publisher that do not relate to the subscription you are purchasing, or receive any marketing communications from third parties, at the time you purchase your subscription.
If you purchase a single issue, Google may share your postal code with the periodical's publisher. We also provide periodical publishers with sales information on periodical purchases.
Following purchase, all magazines purchases will be stored in "My Magazines" and all news content purchases will be stored in "My News" within the Google Play Newsstand app on your device. All purchased content will also be stored in "My Newsstand" within the Google Play app on your device and on the Google Play website. Google will not display or disclose the contents of My Magazines to other users.
Google may control your usage of your content, such as the option to share entire articles, copy and paste. These protections are specified by the publisher and Google is required to implement them.
Your purchase history may be viewed by Google for technical troubleshooting and/or support purposes. We understand that your purchase history is personal information, and our highest priority is to maintain the security and confidentiality of this data. To do this, we use a variety of measures to safeguard your data. We also have internal restrictions on who can access your data at Google.
Should you lose your device with stored content on it, you can always re-sync your purchases onto another device. Since all your purchases are automatically stored in the cloud (and are accessible via the Google Newssstand app and via Google Play on web and devices), you never have to worry about losing your periodical purchases.
