Managing content on Google Play Newsstand

Once you've purchased content or a subscription to content on Google Play Newsstand, it is available to you in your Google account. While you have the right to access your content, please note the copyright still resides with the periodical's rights holder, usually the publisher who submitted the title. Please refer to the section below entitled "Copyright and Digital Rights."

Lending and co-ownership

You may not lend or co-own any of your content from Google Play Newsstand purchases with another person.

Purchase Policies

Refunding single issue purchases and subscriptions

Single issue purchases of magazine titles are not refundable unless you are unable to access the issue or there is otherwise a defect with the content or the service.

Subscriptions are on-going and automatically renew at the end of each term. We will not refund charges from non-current terms (e.g. for subscriptions that have ended). If the subscription term is longer than a month and less than 7 days have passed, we may issue a refund for the entire term. If there is a defect or you are unable to access content in the case of subscription purchases, Google may grant a refund for the entire term or a partial refund for content not received in the remaining term of the subscription. If you receive a refund for the entire term, Google may remove access to all content, including any content you have already received as part of that term.

Google may in its discretion decline repeated requests for refunds that appear to be abusing our processes. When a refund is granted, we'll remove access to content associated with the charge and your money will be returned. To submit a refund request, please contact Google through Google Play Customer Support. If Google chooses to issue you a refund, the refund of your purchase price shall be your sole remedy.

In the event a title becomes unavailable through Google Play Newsstand, Google will refund the user (such refund may be for the entire term or for content not yet received). Where Google's rights from the publisher permit it, you will continue to have access to content from the title that has already been delivered in your account. In certain cases, we may need to remove customer access to content stored online. In these cases you will receive a full refund of the purchase price of the purchased content, which shall be your sole remedy.

Subscriptions, renewals, cancellations and free trials

Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each subscription term -- e.g. monthly recurring subscriptions will automatically renew every month until cancelled, annual recurring subscriptions will recur every year until cancelled.

You may cancel your subscription at any point, meaning your subscription will not renew at the end of the current term. Please visit our cancelling subscriptions help page for instructions on how to do this. If you cancel during a free trial period, you will not be charged.

Changes in subscription price

You will be charged at the rate you initially agreed for the initial term of your subscription. If the Provider later increases the price of the subscription, Google will notify you and give you the option to accept or decline the price increase as described below. The increase will apply to the next payment due from you after the notice, provided that you have been given at least 30 days' prior notice before the charge is made. If you are given less than 30 days' prior notice, the price increase will not apply until the payment after the next payment due. If your subscription is cancelled and you decide to re-subscribe, you will be charged at the then current subscription rate.

Moving content between Accounts

If you accidentally purchase a subscription or magazine single issue using a different Google Account, Google may grant a refund for your purchase providing you notify Google within seven (7) days of your purchase. You can then re-purchase your subscription or single issue using your preferred Google Account. In order for your request to be considered, both accounts must be in good standing. This option is not available as a way to lend or 'gift' a purchase from one customer to another. To request this type of refund, please contact Google Play Customer Support.

Privacy and Security Policies

Sharing user data with publishers

If you purchase a subscription, Google will share your name, email address, mailing address and a unique identifier with the periodical’s publisher. As a subscriber to the periodical, Google may also share your reading history within the periodical with the publisher of that periodical. You can indicate whether or not you would like to receive any communications from the publisher that do not relate to the subscription you are purchasing, or receive any marketing communications from third parties, at the time you purchase your subscription.

If you purchase a single issue, Google may share your postal code with the periodical's publisher. We also provide periodical publishers with sales information on periodical purchases.

Google will use your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
