◎Story

A museum sits in the middle of nowhere is guarded by a mysterious cat. A boy unexpectedly become the manager of the museum and takes on the job of repairing the museum. He must find hidden clues and solve the puzzles, all the while dealing with his mischievous cat. The deeper he goes, the closer he gets to the frightening truth.

He remembers the deafening cries echoing under the blood red sky.
Time stood still, day and night blurred as one, rubbles and debris scattered about, and there was a faint breathing underneath the wardrobe.
From that surreal and distant childhood memory, what kind of monster is breeding within?

I almost want to give 4 stars instead of 5 solely because the ending had me bawling my eyes out like the giant crybaby that I am. Ugh, even just thinking about it is getting me all weepy, haha. But aside from that it was really fun, the puzzles were unique and challenging, and I loved all the little kitties you encounter throughout the game. Again, the ending absolutely broke my heart, but getting to make a new custom toy was really sweet.

*Tip for anyone stuck after the ember loading screen, try swiping down as if you're closing the lid of the box (sorry for the spoil, but I almost gave up and would have missed all the good things. ) Graphics are great with a little creepshow-style gloominess, but it all comes together in such a lovely way. Haunting and unexpectedly emotional. Keep tissues handy toward the end.

This game genuinely made me on edge until the ending, where I started crying. The art is fantastic, I love the style and designs of each area and character. Spoilers for the ending, but below is an explanation for why I cried like a little baby. My childhood cat, who had seen me through the worst times and fears of my life, recently passed away unexpectedly. In the game, the dread of the monsters was incomparable to the feeling of loss connected to the cat companion disappearing. Amazing game.
