My Journey Within is designed to help you explore your emotions.
The first tab, the "Emotion Finder" will list six common emotions that we will refer to as the "basic" emotions: anger, fear, joy, love, sadness, and surprise. Once you select a "basic emotion," a list of emotions that are closely related to the "basic emotion" will be displayed. Continue to drill down until you find the emotion that most accurately describes how you are feeling and then select that emotion.
Take the time to explore each emotion and name it. Be patient with yourself and the process. Remember, the process of increasing your emotional intelligence takes time, but the reward can be great.
Next, you will be invited to take a selfie to capture the moment. After you have taken your selfie, you will be empowered to choose what you would like to do with your emotion(s). This step puts you in charge of yourself instead of allowing your emotions to take control. You will be given several options to choose from. For example, you will have the option to choose someone you would like to share this emotion with. You can then send them a picture of yourself that expresses the emotion you are feeling in the moment.
You will next decide if you would like to share this emotion with someone else, and to help your support person be prepared, you will be given a list of options under the "what do I need from my listener?" tab. You will then be prompted to choose the setting in which you would like to share this emotion with your listener.
Your next step is to identify "what is causing you to feel this way?" Capture a few notes that will help you gain a deeper understanding of what you are feeling and what triggers certain emotions. Your response will be captured and held in your personal, private profile where you can gauge your progress.
It is my hope that you will find greater self-awareness and self-management along the way, as you take the time to Journey Within yourself and increase your emotional intelligence.
