The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because it looks like a lot of art was generated by AI. Instead of paying for the genAI app to steal art and destroy the planet, why not pay the artist directly for what you need? Normally I completely avoid any apps that use AI "art." However... HelloChinese has otherwise been a great app for learning. Lessons are paced very well to learn and practice what you just learned, + plenty of native-speaker videos.

I love this app! I tried multiple apps, but they all required you to pay. Though you can pay for another version, you don't need it to unlock advancements. I genuinely can't praise this app enough! From podcasts to actual chinese people pronouncing phrases to it explaining every detail thoroughly, it hasn't left anything out, and I have already learned so much. If you find learning Chinese daunting, this app is for you! Go for it!

so far I'm really liking the app. I'm about 10 days into it and it's wonderful. with the 2.0 version you get duolings's game-ified user interface but there's a coherent structure to it and there's much more content. real speakers voices, stories, chats, hanki practice, review, and pronunciation practice.... for $50 a year on sale (~$80 normally) with no ads?!?? if you don't want to pay their old course is free and also has no ads. my one complaint though is that the new course lacks teacher-talk
