Welcome to Kestner, the dictionary of German Sign Language (DGS)!
With over 29,000 different terms and 200 DGS sentences as sign language videos, Kestner accompanies you and helps you express yourself with signs in almost any situation. This world's largest dictionary of DGS not only offers a comprehensive vocabulary but also a variety of helpful features that enable you to better understand and communicate more easily in German Sign Language. Learn German Sign Language playfully with an extensive vocabulary trainer, create and share your own sign lists, and develop memory aids and worksheets. Learning sign language has never been so easy and effective!
The signs in Kestner are organized into over 100 categories. A search function and numerous filters make it easy to find the sign language videos you need. If a term you're looking for isn't listed as a sign in Kestner, synonymous signs will be suggested. For approximately 3,000 terms, Kestner also shows you pre-made sign language images with movement arrows.
Using an integrated image editor, you can create still images of the sign language videos directly in Kestner and enhance them with arrows and many other elements. You can then insert these sign language images into print templates to create worksheets and teaching materials with Kestner. You can also insert the approximately 3,500 symbol images from the Mulberry symbol collection into sign language images and print templates. These sign language images and print templates can be printed or downloaded.
You can use Kestner with your personal login details on all devices as an app and web version. Regular updates ensure Kestner is always up to date.
