The SIPI app was developed for people with a variety of symptoms who could benefit from an early warning plan or relapse prevention plan during their recovery. The offline version of this plan has been a staple in mental healthcare for years and is scientifically proven. It allows people to identify their own sources of stress. Using three different phases—green, orange, and red—the client describes the signals for each phase and how their environment can best respond. People also consider how to reach or remain in the green phase.
SIPI provides the digital translation of this early warning plan in an easily accessible app and desktop version. The system with the different phases and corresponding colors is integrated into the application. The app is designed to be readily available and thus provide rapid support during difficult moments. It also encourages users to proactively address the issue and to assess it regularly. By using alternative strategies in a timely manner, you increase the chance of preventing crisis behavior. The app contains predefined ideas for stress reduction, but the intention is for users to contribute their own suggestions so it becomes a personalized plan. For example, you can upload your own photos, add your own music, and keep track of contacts. We recommend completing the app when you're not experiencing a crisis, so you have the best understanding of your symptoms, what can help, and so on.
Once in use, the app provides a personalized overview of which moments proved (very) difficult. This provides insight into any recurring patterns and how you can work to prevent them.
The app can be used independently or with a care provider from participating organizations. You can use it during your hospital stay as well as after you've been discharged.
SIPI is not a replacement for professional care. If you are struggling with difficult feelings or situations, please contact a professional care provider. A conversation with your GP can be a first step.
