In-app registration on Galaxy S7 doesn't work, and the app doesn't give any feedback as to what's wrong just the register button isn't clickable. Had to go to the website to register. Come back logged in, and now pairing with the car doesn't work. Turned out I needed to be in the car with the car turned on. Again no feedback and no guided onboarding process makes it a nighters. Coincidentally I work for a German software company. For German engineering, this is just unacceptable.
I've been using BMW Apps for about 9 yrs now on both Android and iOS and this version gets worse and worse. No web radio, no social connectivity, and iHeart radio app doesn't even work. It's pathetic to continue to have this low level of functionality over these years and meanwhile I rented a Nissan Altima last week and it was so far advanced compared to this sorry excuse. BMW Apps for Android is practically non existent. It's a sham of an option for BMW owners. It's an embarrassment for the BMW name.
I bought a BMW and not a Lexus because of what was shown to me of the iDrive system. The album art shown on the display, the Facebook updates, the array of apps that you can use. After 1 year, non of that has worked unfortunately. Yes the basic basic bluetooth functions work, but so did it on my old VW. I just expected so much better on my state of the art BMW. I wish they made BMW Connected just as good on Android/ Samsung than they did for Apple!!! I will never ever ever ever get an iPhone!!!!! Their Spotify and Pandora integration is way better on Apple than Android/ Samsung! They can search, look for tracks, go through albums, which we can only do through our phones currently. This is unacceptable and I hope you guys can at least make the apps more compatible with Android phones!
As a bmw owner it pains me to say this but note to bmw, download the Tesla app to see what a real "connected car" experience is. Also, please consider actually supporting Android as a first rate experience.
I got excited this morning when I saw that my Droid Turbo 2 had updated to 22.214.171.1244 and FINALLY enabled music & app support, which were supposedly a week or two away, 5 months ago when I last talked to Connected support. No Amazon music support yet, but Pandora and SmartThings are there. Cool. But...this is another giant disappointment. This app does one thing well, allows me to send navigation destinations from the app to my car. The actual Connected part of the Connected app is terrible. Seriously, BMW, do you even test these things before you roll them out? The app crashes constantly, and when I can finally get it to talk to the car, it "loses" it's connection again after a few minutes, and I have to unplug and re-plug the USB cable to the phone, then load the apps again, rinse and repeat. On top of that, the car doesn't recognize Pandora, even though the Connected app does. SmartThings shows in the list of available Connected apps, but clicking on it does nothing unless I launch the app from the phone first. What's the point? The "Audio Player" option does nothing when I click on it. I'd expect a Beta version of an app to work better than this released version does.
App keeps crashing on my Nexus 6p. Although I can stream Pandora via Bluetooth, I can't seem to actually use the app on my 2016 328i with Tech package
BMW Roadside Assistance app makes requesting service faster and more accurate.
