Very well thought out app! I wish I could see how much screen time my children have left each day from my device, but that is a minor issue. The features of this app work very well!
Much more elegant and integrated than non-Google parental control apps, but the feature set isn't there yet... Needs per app time limits and better blocking of things like settings
Half baked. I can't import an existing kids Gmail address and certain apps like daydream are not "available" for kids...
A great move in the right direction. The Google ecosystem has been lacking a product like this far too long. However, there are a few things that keep this from being great. For example: you cannot use the YouTube app AT ALL, there is no ability to convert an existing account to a kids account, the usage timer can't have exceptions (e.g. not counting time spent in the Contacts or Calculator app) and isn't a usage "timer" that would let me tell a younger child they only get 30 mins right now. (There is a stopwatch-like functionality that cuts access when you reach a time). There also doesn't seem to be a way to move a child's account to a different parent account. For example, if my wife creates my child's account and later decided to change/delete HER account, it would also delete the account of my child. Coupled with the Google policy on account re-use, my child may never be able to access their account again. Edit: There has been no progress on important features since my original review.
I like a lot of the features on this but what drives me crazy is that I can only give parental privileges to one person at a time. My son has two step parents and all 4 of us would like to be able to shut his phone down or approve things while he's with us. Instead it falls on me, regardless of who he's with. Why can I add multiple family members but not give them parental privileges?
I love the fact I can control the amount of time spent on my kids phone. They hate that the phone shuts down from 9:30pm-6am. 😂😂😂
