When Kayak leaves you hanging... Have been using Kayak for many moons. Came across OnTheFly and tried it. Wow! What a beautiful design, yet powerful, and able to find flights NOT listed in Kayak. How do they do that? Don't care... (but) now it's my primary go-to app for travel. The 'scrolling histogram' of "what's available" is EXACTLY what users want. Kudos!
Best app for searching flights & fares (Skyscanner app is great as well). Too bad it has not been updated since late 2013. It has been replaced by the Google Flights website. Note: there is a bug in selecting the flight departure date. Upon using Flexible Dates mode, then selecting a departure date, flights are searched and shown for the day BEFORE the selected departure date. For example, when using Flexible Dates mode, to search flights for departure on August 24th, one has to select August 25th as the departure date.
Both GREAT and TERRIBLE! This app has the most flexibility for finding the cheapest fares as any app I've ever tried. When using flexible travel dates, the fare graph is fantastic. However, that is irrelevant because some of the fares presented are not actually available, rendering this app useless to me. Twice now the app presented fares that were WAY lower than other apps or websites, the when I tried to book by calling the airline directly, I was told that these fare codes were "unavailable" (required 40-day advance booking).
What happened? This is by far the best app I've had until couple of months back. I can't view dates ahead of the current date ?? What's the point ? Pls fix. Would be sad to uninstall the app. Thanks for all tho.helped me save and plan.
What to do next? Nice app and gives the best prices but need a direct way to book. All those "codes" are intimidating and don't instill confidence when you attempt to book. Therefore, I've never used it to get the price I see. It's a shame.
Needs redevelopment Brilliant layout and and ease of use but the majority of the fares given are inaccurate. On many occasions it's given me fares that had either been discontinued or not valid at all. Most recent gave a fare $200 less than what I saw on the airline website, however after checking with the airline, the fare was only valid for residents of that country. Pretty useless app.
OnTheFly has been updated to use a new flight search server, run on Google systems. Older versions of the app will stop functioning in the near future so be sure to update promptly.
